Trees

THE BALLAD OF FORESTS
for Jack Spicer

There is a forest of one tree,
It is stripped of its leaves.

Look how you curve against the wind
Curve against the wind.

There is a forest of ten-thousand trees,
It is stripped of its roots.

Look how you curve against the wind
Curve against the wind.

Because I walked through the roots
I have scraped my feet

Look how you curve against the wind
Curve the wind.
