Lyric for a New Life

I died before you

took the plunge

ran out the door of life,

I went on before you

stopped speaking

turned my sight away

closed off my hearing

folded my body up from your touch before you

I decided,

before you

passed away into another life

met it head on like a new course of study

People missed me before you

they asked about me for a time

wondered what became of me

asked if I’d left anything behind

they cried for me before you

they called my name out in vain

wished they’d been better friends before you

My soul grew weary of this life

my mind fatigued by lies

my heart riddled by deceit

my legs weakened with each blow

I decided to collapse before you

to give way

to allow an ocean of tears

to sweep me elsewhere before you

One day, I resolved to perish before you

resolved to cut across the void

to come out at the other end with no one

naked in a new world, unrecognized

inching along from day to night

and day again

I finally reached the promise land

I finally saved my self
