I’ll be leaving at
the end of the session –
and that’s the truth.

Abstruse, an adjective that refers to something

obscured or difficult to understand e.g.,

mumbling from the men’s room, or

political double-speak,

of late, in the House on the Hill.

Obtuse describes a person who has difficulty

understanding a situation, or reality,

like most of the Representatives

that deliver the speeches that say nothing,

with as many words as possible.

Aberrant – not abhorrent which is truly horrible,

like finding a roach in your risotto –

but diverging from the norm,

like wearing a fur coat to the pool,

or packing a Glock on the House floor.

Hard to point out not the custom,

when the obtuse turn the world upside down,

with totally abstruse bullshit.

Aberrant bordering on, moving toward,

abhorrent is the new norm.

Abstruse word salads become party canon,

abhorrent theater the only spectacle that sells.

The obtuse, pandering to the base, are left,

as the normal are retiring, going home,

wanting to spend more time with their families.
