Kate Sutter is a senior at the University of Wisconsin Madison majoring in Environmental studies and English and minoring in digital studies. She has a love for poetry and a passion for fighting for a better world. Though she hasn’t submitted her poetry into any competitions nor has she published any of her work in journals, she has some published poetry on an instagram account listed here. Her dream is to publish a poetry book one day. She has worked at the Black Earth Institute since November of 2023 and has appreciated every minute of it. Being able to collaborate with impactful authors, get her writing out in the open, and have her creative opinion heard as an assistant editor and an intern is something she is very grateful for. She hopes to promote others’ work in turn because she believes creative expression is a way to heal the world and bring people together.
Ellie Coleman is a senior at Loras College majoring in English Creative Writing and Secondary Education. She has a variety of prose and fiction published in The Limestone Review. One of her poems, “Demeter’s Fall,” placed second in Delta Epsilon Sigma’s National Undergraduate Writing Competition.
