Scott Hightower

These are not the protesters of either
nineteen thirty-two or the late nineteen
sixties and seventies. It’s two thousand eleven,
and these are among those without a paycheck,
a home, security. They are not camping;
they are demonstrating. It is peaceful.
Evening setting in under the trees
and over the blue tents. It’s complicated.
Scott Hightower is the author of four books of poetry in the U.S. and Hontanares, a bilingual (Spanish-English) collection. In 2008, he garnered a prestigious Barnstone Translation Prize. Hightower, a native of Texas, lives and works in New York and sojourns in Spain.
