Leah Oates has a B.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design and a M.F.A. from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is a Fulbright Fellow for graduate study at Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland. Oates has had solo shows at venues including Susan Eley Fine Art, NYC, Sara Nightingale Gallery, Watermill, NY, the Center for Book Arts in NYC, the Central Park Arsenal Gallery in NYC, Tomasulo Gallery in New Jersey, The Sol Mednick Gallery in Philadelphia and Real Art Ways in Connecticut as well as solo shows in Chicago at Artemisia Gallery, Woman Made Gallery and Anchor Graphics. Recently her work was featured in Beautiful Decay, Phaidon Club Online, Eyesin Magazine, Bomblog, Diffusion Magazine, NY Arts Magazine, Daily Constitutional and Art Squeeze. Her works on paper are in the private collections of Lee Wells, Susan Bode Tyson, Bill Groom, Natalie Domchencho and Mark Waskow and are in numerous public collections including the National Museum of Women in the Arts, The Brooklyn Museum Artists’ Book Collection, The British Library, The Walker Art Center Libraries, The Smithsonian Libraries and Franklin Furnace at MoMA.
