These pieces represent my interest in the human relationship with trees and forests. Representing the atmosphere of forests in abstract form is my art practice. I’m interested in the relationship between positive and negative vertical forms overlaying banded color fields.

The forest series has been the focus of my work for eight years. I’ve spent years walking in many types of forests in the US and Europe. The atmosphere of the forest varies with the type of trees, weather, time of day, the animals who live there and how close to civilization the forest is.

Our spiritual connection to trees is ancient. Being present in a forest, feeling the movement and strength of the trees is the spirit all people need. Forests are our breath.
